Moe's side:
"Shanny doesn't know the real deal about the early days of my marriage; she only knows what I was willing to share. I wasn’t about to tell her the whole story because I didn’t want her to dislike Benny, my new husband.
The telephone rang one night about 2 a.m. and I woke up. I opened my eyes to see Benny check the caller I.D., pick up the telephone, get up out of the bed, and walk into the bathroom. I could hear him mumbling something, but I couldn’t make out what he was saying. After a few minutes, he returned to bed. When he cuddled next to me, I asked, "What was that about?"

"Oh nothing. Go back to sleep."

"Nothing" never happens at 2 a.m. That time of night says it’s something. I lay there for about an hour, trying to get back to sleep and wondering what particular variety of "nothing" had just happened. At 3:15 a.m. I got up to use the bathroom. When I went into the room, I saw Benny had left the telephone on the top of the toilet. Bingo! So naturally, I checked the caller I.D. "Paula Jones."

How come I am not surprised? You know the deal, the ex-girlfriend. Benny had maintained a friendship with her after we got married. That didn’t bother me. He had a life before me; I wasn’t trying to erase his past. However, when she sent him the birthday card with balloons, I got annoyed. When she started leaving weekly messages on the answering machine asking him to return her calls, I felt disrespected. When she stopped by the house unannounced in that tight jumpsuit, I thought, now sister is just plain crossing the line.

I was straight with Benny about my feelings and he agreed to shut it down, if it would make me feel better. And I did feel better – until that 2 a.m. telephone call. I wondered, what does a woman need at 2 a.m., ya’ know? How stupid do they think I am? As I settled myself down on the toilet to pee, my legs hit the cold toilet bowl, and it fueled my anger. I jumped up thinking I would still be asleep if it wasn’t for her. He is so inconsiderate, can’t even put the toilet seat down when he finishes using it! I’m getting out of here! Overreacted? Maybe. But thus, the drama began."
